My patients like the form-fitting nature of the EQUMEN™ shirts and the back/core support they offer, reminding them from a kinesthetic perspective to avoid slouching. Since posture is very cerebral in nature and requires physical corrections, the garment has the potential to be a great motor learning tool for patients, athletes and the general population alike. The technology is very unique, supporting the areas of the body that typically break down from a posture dimension and through repetitive overuse. When worn, the shirt's HELIX MAPPING™ permits somatic feedback directly to promote spinal and soft tissue alignment through virtually subliminal posture corrections.

I'm often asked to give opinions on new products and kit and this next one I couldn't resist. The 'Equmen' undervest is a bit like the 'Spanx' knickers women are wearing to shape the legs and bum but it's for men who want that slim waist and 'V' shape when wearing a suit or jumper.

Being the athletic muscular type, I was intrigued as to what it would feel like. After attempting to get the medium on, getting my shoulders stuck and having to get assistance in removing it, the large fitted like a dream. It has, 'Helix Mapping Technology', which helps keep the core strong and the shoulders back.

It is very tight and unless you have the kind of physique of a Marathon runner and are 8% body fat, it is going to have to sit under your clothes and not worn as a t-shirt.

Though my shirt was white and we all know this shows every crease and line, it did support me in a new way when I ran in it and is a useful and supportive piece of kit.

I think it's a great idea for those of you who want more support in the core area and would definitely improve your posture. You will need to take a few deep breaths now and again so you don't pass out, and get the colour right or you might just upset a few people.
